My Friend Swears by This Firming Body Lotion That Doubles as a Perfume

I love a good multi-tasking product, whether it’s a moisturizer-sunscreen-foundation hybrid, a concealer that fights acne, or a two-in-one serum. Not only do these types of products simplify your beauty regime, but you can justify their cost a whole easier. Recently, a friend of mine turned me onto an epically genius double-duty body essential, Philosophy Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion, a firming and hydrating body treatment that essentially eliminates the need for perfume.

Amazing Grace has been Philosophy’s best-selling fragrance for nearly three decades. At some point in life, the majority of us had a friend or family member who was obsessed with the signature musk featuring hints of bergamot and lily of the valley. Due to the popularity of the fragrance, Philosophy went on to create pretty much every type of beauty, bath, and skincare product imaginable infused with the trademark scent, ranging from shower gels and various types of body lotion to dry shampoo.

My friend, a Philadelphia-based yoga instructor, school counselor, and mother of three boys, has less-than-zero minutes to get ready every day. Somehow, she always manages to look and smell amazing. I asked her what her secret was, and she told me about the fragranced firming lotion.

“I couldn’t get enough of the fragrance my sister was always wearing,” she told me. She was surprised to find out it wasn’t perfume in a bottle, but Philosophy Amazing Grace Firming Body Emulsion. After borrowing the silky lotion whenever they were together, she finally splurged on her own bottle. “It’s really the perfect scent and strength for an all day perfume or a quick freshen up after a gym or yoga class,” she says.

The one thing it does that most fragranced body lotions don’t? Not only does it hydrate, but it firms the skin too thanks to ingredients like macadamia oil, an effective anti-ager high in fatty acids, vitamin E, and antioxidants. It also includes olive oil and shea butter, which help with skin barrier function and inflammation. One Amazon user said they used on their neck area for years “with noticeable results,” while another added that it tightened their skin “without leaving it sticky” and “also moisturizes very well. “If you have dry skin like me and need some firming, this is it,” they added. A third five-star reviewer wishes she could give the “must have” product 12, claiming that it “literally tightens your skin as it moisturizes.”

While $48 for a 16-ounce bottle might seem a little steep for a moisturizer, my friend maintains it’s worth every penny because “a little goes a long way.” And, “you’ll love the smooth lotion feel and the perfect amount of moisture,” she says. You can also snag the scent in multiple other formats, including a $31 body spritz and $28 shower gel.
